Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q:    What equipment does my player need?
A:
In general, we recommend players have a glove, bat, helmet, and cleats.  Cleats are optional for T-Ball and A-Ball. Gloves come in many types and sizes. Dicks Sporting Goods has a great buying guide for baseball and softball to help you choose the right glove.  All bats must have the USA Baseball or USA Softball stamp on them, and for divisions AA and above players cannot use a T-Ball bat.  Dicks also has some great info to help with bat purchases for baseball and softball.

Q:    Does Cherry Hill Atlantic have a mobile app?
A:
Yes! Cherry Hill Atlantic uses the GameChanger mobile app for schedules, rosters, and team communications. AAA and Majors divisions also use the app to maintain our in-game scorecards. Once you're set up on the GC app, its generally best practice to use the app to RSVP to games and practices, and send communications to your team and coaches. We strongly recommend at least one family member downloads and uses the app.

Q:     When does registration open/close?
A:
Registration for the Spring season opens in December and closes in March. Late registration fees apply for registrations received after the first week of February, so please try to register early. Registration for the Fall season opens in early July and closes in late August.

T-Ball & A-Ball (Spring Season)

Q:    What is the typical schedule for T-Ball and A-Ball?
A:     T-Ball and A-Ball have games twice per week, one during the week (Mon-Thurs) and one on Saturdays. The Saturday games are typically morning or early afternoon. The weekday games are in the early evening with 5:30 or 6:00pm start times.

Q:    When does the Spring season begin and end?
A:     T-Ball and A-Ball begin in early April and run through the first week of June.

Q:    Can I request that my child plays with their friends?
A:     Yes! When you register, there's a field where you can enter a coach or teammate request.

Q:     When will I find out what team my child is on?
A:      We typically finish assigning T-Ball and A-Ball teams about 2 weeks before the season starts. You'll receive an automated email from our website with your team information.

Q:     When will we find out the exact schedule for T-Ball or A-Ball?
A:     We will typically post the Spring T-Ball and A-Ball schedules within a week of posting teams and rosters, towards the end of March.

Q:    What equipment will we need for T-Ball or A-Ball?
A:     You will need a bat, glove, and helmet. Cleats are optional for T-Ball and A-Ball, and many kids wear sneakers. For most kids, a 9.5-10.5 inch glove is appropriate. Bats must have the "USA Baseball" stamp on them. T-Ball bats are allowed for both T-Ball and A-Ball, but not after A-Ball.

Q:    Are there practices for T-Ball or A-Ball?
A:     Typically, there are not separate practices for T-Ball or A-Ball. The "games" are a combination of game play, practice, and fundamental skills training.

Q:    Where are the T-Ball and A-Ball games played?
A:     Games will be at our complex on Evesham Rd.  You can see an overview of our complex on the fields page.

Q:    What age does T-Ball start?
A:     T-Ball starts at 4 years old, based on Little League's age charts.  Little League's age determination years run from September-August.

Q:    What are the appropriate ages for T-Ball and A-Ball?
A:     T-Ball runs from ages 4-5, and A-Ball runs from ages 5-6. You can see a full overview on our Divisions page.

Q:    I'm interested in coaching T-Ball, but never coached in the past. What do I need to know?
A:     There are some great resourses available on the Little League website to help learn some fundamental drills. You can find some additional drills and resources here as well.

Fall Ball Questions

Q:      When does the Fall season start/end?
A:
The Fall season runs from early September until the 3rd week of October. The Fall season's first games will generally be around the first day of school based on the Cherry Hill public school calendar.

Q:     Does CHALL Offer T-Ball in the Fall?
A:      We do not offer T-Ball in the Fall, only in the Spring.

Q:     What is the A-Ball Preparation Program?
A:     The A-Ball Prep Program is intended for players transitioning into Coach Pitch for the first time. The program is run on Sundays, typically either late-morning to early-afternoon. It is a mix of fundamental skills training and game-play. Many of the players in Fall A-Ball Prep are incoming kindergartners, but some younger players who have already played T-Ball will participate as well.

Q:    What is the schedule for Fall Ball?
A:     For the Minors and Majors programs, there will typically be 2 games per week. One game is during the week (Mon-Thurs) and one on Saturdays. Practice schedules are at the coach's discretion.  The time schedule for Fall Ball will vary from the Spring due to limited daylight hours and availability of fields with lights.

Q:    Are there player evaluations for Fall Ball?
A:     Unlike Spring, we do not do player evaluations for Fall Ball.
